Neckpiece woven in Polynesian style, adorned with South Seas’ shell forms. Charms representing images relating to Mead’s life: stages in a woman’s life– infancy, adolescence, maternity. Locket representing sarong Mead wore in photo with her Samoan “sister.” Forked staff carried in later life, book for her intellectual contributions.
